Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and was named after Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment. The park was the first to come under the Project Tiger initiative.

 

The park has sub-Himalayan belt geographical and ecological characteristics. Corbett National Park comprises 520.8 km2 (201.1sq mi) area of hills, riverine belts, marshy depressions, grasslands and a large lake. The elevation ranges from 1,300 to 4,000ft (400 to 1,220 m). Winter nights are cold but the days are bright and sunny. It rains from July to September.

 

Forest covers almost 73% of the park, 10% of the area consists of grasslands. It houses around 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species.

Day 1

Delhi - Ramnagar - Dhikala

After reaching New Delhi station, meet our representative and transfer to vehicle for drive to Corbett (5hr road journey with one halt). Reach by afternoon 2pm & Lunch will be served. Later drive to Dhikala forest entry gate and get ready for your first jungle safari in the Sal forest of Corbett. The greenery & lush rich biodiversity of the forest will make you feel rejoiced. Our wildlife naturalist will share some insights of the forest and its diversity throughout the safari. Keep your Binocs, camera & eyes wide open to look out for birds, mammals, etc. around. Reach Dhikala by evening and check in. Evening tea with a sit out discussing days sighting and QNA session followed by dinner.

Day 2

Dhikala

With an early wake up call, have a quick tea cup and head out for heart of the forest whilst safari number 2, Dhikala forest range. The forest has different gifts in different corners. We look out for the big cat and also enjoy birding which is an active part in the morning time. There are high chances of sighting big cats early morning as their walking activity is high for hunting & territory marking. Reach Dhikala and check in for breakfast, rest until Lunch. Post lunch enjoy post lunch safari (we have 5 beautiful chances to spot the big cats and the other elusive animals of the forest – Be patient & vigilant). Return in the evening for tea and discussing sighting. List out number of birds you spotted while in all 3 safaris, don’t miss the colourful feathers. Dinner and day off

Day 3

Dhikala - Ramnagar

Head out for an early morning safari before we make our way out of the forest. Explore the Gairal region of the forest and return for breakfast. Post breakfast check out from the FRH and explore the forest for the last time. Return to Dhikala for Lunch. Post Lunch drive out with the final Safari of the Corbett forest and check in to resort. Relax and enjoy the luxuries of a resort. Enjoy some barbecue and snacks around the bonfire. Dinner and overnight

Day 4

Ramnagar - Delhi

After breakfast check out and drive to Delhi station & drop at Railway station/Airport. Collect your train tickets from the Tour leader and board train back to Mumbai.

  • 1 night accommodation on twin sharing basis in Tiger Groove Resort/Similar
  • 2 nights stay in shared Dormitory in Dhikala FRH .
  • Return transfers by AC Vehicle from Delhi 
  • All Meals as per mentioned in the itinerary. (3 Breakfast/3 Lunch/ 3 Dinner)
  • Safari charges, forest permits, guide charges.

  • Wildlife safaris are a matter of luck and opportunity. No guarantee of any sighting is made. Neither of our associates will quote that, although we try our best to spot and show you as much as nature allows us to.
  • Never enter the forest with an intention of spotting a single species, it will only disappoint you. The forest is a gift packet with a lot to surprise with. Listen to our naturalist for more wonderful experience.
  • Our safaris are not target species specific (Unless specified)
  • We explore everything we find uncommon and need to be explained.
  • Any demand for spotting a single species in any jeep will not be entertained by the guide or the tour leader as there are other travellers who would want to see the birds etc.
  • Respect & honour everything that is in the forest and it has to offer you.
  • Enjoy being in the forest and you will feel much happier away from the concrete chaos.
  • Respect the local, tribes, guards, guides, drivers, officers and all animals.
  • Front seat of the Gypsy is always reserved for the Guide or Guard.
  • No extra room will be made for photographers, respecting other travellers. (For photographers it is recommended to opt for higher options)
  • No littering in the forest strictly. (what goes comes back the same way)
  • Camera fees & guide tips to be paid separately & directly.
  • Kindly follow the instructions given by the tour leader and the guide for your own safety.
