Bird Walk in BPS
Meet your host at the meeting point who will guide you further to the trail. The Trail starts with a cement road with Salt pans on the left & Pumping Station to the right. This trail has a mixed habitat of Freshwater, Grassland, Scrubland, Forest and Mangroves. This makes it an ideal location for spotting different species of the habitats. A long 800mtrs walk on the trail we may come across birds like Myna, Cuckoo, Shrike, Prinias, Kingfishers, Spoonbills, Ibis, Kite, chats, pipits etc. We turn right & absolutely different habitat is around the corner. The trail is now filled with big green trees ideal for Coucal, Koel, Orioles, Flycatchers, Sunbirds, Flowerpeckers, Barbett, Parakeet, Woodpecker, Lesser Fish Eagle, Pallas’s Fish eagle, Harriers, hawks, Buzzards, Egrets, Herons etc. This trail will take us for about 90mins. Further on we turn left midway towards the mangrove and shoreline. We can spot White eared Bulbul, Lesser & greater Flamingos, Ibis, Storks, Egrets, Herons, Sandpipers, Shanks, Stints, Ducks, Cormorants, Grebes, Plovers, Coots, Crakes, Swamphen, Moorhen, Jacanas, Lapwings, Godwits, Curlews, Snipe, Stilts, Avocets, etc. The list is pretty long and so is the experience on this trail. One has never returned disappointed from this trail, there is always one flag-mark specie that makes it worth & memorable. The trail should end by 10am (please carry breakfast or light snacks and 2ltrs water).
