Tungareshwar Monsoon Trail for Kids – A Nature Walk Near Mumbai

Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, located near Vasai and just a short drive from Mumbai, offers an exciting monsoon trail perfect for young explorers and families. This kid-friendly nature walk is a wonderful way to introduce children to the lush beauty of the Western Ghats during the rainy season.

As the monsoon breathes new life into the forest, the trail comes alive with vibrant greenery, gurgling streams, and a refreshing misty atmosphere. Children will love walking along muddy paths, hopping over puddles, and observing the wonders of nature up close.

The trail is rich in flora, including a variety of native trees like teak, mango, jamun, and hirda. Colorful monsoon wildflowers such as balsams and orchids bloom along the path, adding charm to the lush scenery.

Tungareshwar is also a haven for fauna. Kids can spot butterflies, frogs, and harmless insects, while birdwatchers might catch glimpses of species like the Oriental Magpie Robin, Red-whiskered Bulbul, and Shikra. With luck, you might even hear the calls of the elusive Indian Paradise Flycatcher.

Guided by trained naturalists, the trail is educational and safe. Children are introduced to the basics of birdwatching, nature observation, and eco-awareness, making it a fun and enriching outdoor learning experience.

Whether you’re a parent looking for a weekend nature getaway or a school group planning an eco-trip, the Tungareshwar Monsoon Trail for kids is a delightful and memorable escape into the wild.

Tungareshwar is a mountain plateau situated between Virar and Vasai, an hour's drive from Mumbai. It is a dense forest region with lush green surroundings and flowing waterfalls during monsoon. At an altitude of about 2177 feet, it is a popular destination for trekkers and mountaineers. This forest has been declared as a wildlife sanctuary. The forest is an effective corridor and buffer for the fauna of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali, and Mumbai.
