Phansad Bird Watching Trip

Just a few hours from Mumbai lies a hidden gem for nature lovers—Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. This lesser-known coastal forest offers an incredible birdwatching trip near Mumbai, ideal for beginners, seasoned birders, and anyone who wants a peaceful escape into rich biodiversity.

🦜 Why Visit Phansad?

Phansad is part of the Western Ghats and the Konkan coastal ecosystem. It features semi-evergreen forests, bamboo groves, and grasslands, making it a hotspot for:

  • Over 200 bird species, including the Malabar trogon, Asian paradise flycatcher, heart-spotted woodpecker, and Shikra

  • Butterflies, dragonflies, and insects, making it ideal for macro photography

  • Leopard, wild boar, barking deer, and other small mammals (occasionally sighted)

Unlike commercial reserves, Phansad remains untouched and quiet—perfect for birdwatching tours in Maharashtra that focus on observation, not crowds.

📸 What to Expect

Our Phansad Birdwatching Trip is a guided one-day or overnight experience featuring:

  • Early morning nature trails with an expert bird guide

  • Field knowledge about bird calls, habitat behavior, and identification

  • Optional macro photography sessions and butterfly spotting

  • Packed breakfast and/or lunch during the trail

  • A chance to explore freshwater streams and quiet forest patches

For overnight trips, we arrange stays in eco-homestays or nature resorts near the sanctuary, with the possibility of stargazing and night walks.

🧭 Ideal For:

  • Birdwatchers (beginner to advanced)

  • Nature photographers, macro and wildlife

  • Families and kids looking to introduce children to biodiversity

  • Solo travelers or weekend explorers from Mumbai, Pune, or Alibaug
