Eaglenest Birding Tour – Himalayan Rarities & Bugun Liocichla Expedition πŸ¦œπŸ”οΈ

Explore Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary 🦜. Photograph Himalayan rarities, hornbills & Bugun Liocichla on a premier Arunachal birding tour.

The Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary Birding Expedition is one of India’s most legendary and globally recognized birding tours πŸ”οΈπŸ¦œ. Located in Arunachal Pradesh, Eaglenest has earned international fame for hosting one of Asia’s richest montane bird assemblages β€” including the spectacular and rare Bugun Liocichla, discovered here in 2006.

Rising from 500m to over 3,500m, Eaglenest offers dramatic altitudinal diversity within a compact area of 218 sq. km. This gradient supports subtropical forest, temperate broadleaf woodland, and high-altitude habitats β€” making it one of the most productive birding destinations in the Eastern Himalayas 🌲.

Target species include:

  • 🐦 Bugun Liocichla

  • 🐦 Ward’s Trogon

  • 🐦 Beautiful Nuthatch

  • 🐦 Wedge-billed & Rufous-throated Wren-Babblers

  • Wildlife safaris are a matter of luck and opportunity. No guarantee of any sighting is made. Neither of our associates will quote that, although we try our best to spot and show you as much as nature allows us to.
  • Never enter the forest with an intention of spotting a single species, it will only disappoint you. The forest is a gift packet with a lot to surprise with. Listen to our naturalist for more wonderful experience.
  • Our safaris are not target species specific (Unless specified)
  • We explore everything we find uncommon and need to be explained.
  • Any demand for spotting a single species in any jeep will not be entertained by the guide or the tour leader as there are other travellers who would want to see the birds etc.
  • Respect & honour everything that is in the forest and it has to offer you.
  • Enjoy being in the forest and you will feel much happier away from the concrete chaos.
  • Respect the local, tribes, guards, guides, drivers, officers and all animals.
  • Front seat of the Gypsy is always reserved for the Guide or Guard.
  • No extra room will be made for photographers, respecting other travellers. (For photographers it is recommended to opt for higher options)

Β

- The forest entry fee is based on the current levied price only and might change if there is any hike made
by the forest department.
- Road conditions are unpredictable in this region and could be under repair and not have an asphalt
surface. Re-routing or itinerary changes can be made by the guide depending on the circumstances on the
ground. Some portion of the road along these stretches of the road will be broken and bumpy and prone to
the vagaries of nature which means often driving long hours.

- In Assam, the roads are also in good condition and are in the plains. However, as with anywhere in India,
occasionally, we are bound to find some potholes along the way. Also, there will be short distances of dirt
roads between villages.
- In Arunachal Pradesh you will drive through hilly areas. Some portion of the road along these stretches of
the road will be broken and bumpy and prone to the vagaries of nature which means often driving long
hours. Also, there will be short distances of dirt road between villages.
- The places we have mentioned in the itineraries are some of the least visited areas compared to other
tourist destinations of the country, and as such,Β the choices of facilities are very limited. We always suggest
the best available hotels/guest houses that provide relatively good services in the area. However, some of
theΒ properties are basic in nature with limited amenities. We will use the best available property.
- Do note that, most of the Hotels in Arunachal Pradesh do not have laundry service and you may also
experience sudden power cuts due to which hot running water may not be available sometimes. However,
hot water will be provided in a bucket on request.
- Meals served will be mostly of Indian cuisine like rice, chapattis, curries, etc. The breakfast and dinners
will mostly be at the hotels. The lunches may occur in outside restaurants or local eateries as you will be
out for sightseeing. However, few lunch may be organized at the hotels. We will try to provide you hot
meals while on drive but according the timing and situation, sometimes packed lunch would be served.
Your accompanying escort will take care of this after discussing with you on the previous evening of travel.
- Please note that some of the sights/itineraries may change due to time limits, weather, national holidays,
