Sikkim is the top Eco friendly state in India & is the first to go completely plastic free (Note: Usage or littering of plastic is a punishable offence in Sikkim). Sikkim has some jewels of destinations within its territory, to name them Gangtok, Pelling, Lachung, Yumthang & Lachen. It also hosts the second highest mountain peak of the world “Kanchenjunga”, to add other natural wonders there is Yumthang valley, high altitude lake “Tsomgo” & passes Nathula & Goechala. Darjeeling is a top hill station known for its Tea Estates over centuries. It is now frequently visited by tourists after the UNESCO mountain train was introduced into the hills. The typical sunrise from April to July happens between 0515am to moving backwards till 0430am until July and the sun set in April is 0550pm to 0645pm until July. In the winters it is even shorter than this. Please keep a note of this time difference while planning a trip to Sikkim.

Itineraries

Day 1

Bagdogra – Gangtok (120kms/3hrs)

After your arrival at Bagdogra airport, transfer to Gangtok. The road is pretty straight but passes through the border of Bengal & Sikkim. So a mandatory halt for permit checking is made, this may take maximum 15-30mins depending on the crowd. On the way, you will pass through Mahananda Wild life Sanctuary and more this journey offers magnificent views of the mountains, valleys and village life, the forest, waterfalls and hills covered with tea gardens. Arrive & check in to the hotel after reaching Gangtok. Spend the evening walking down the streets of MG Road or Gandhi Chowk.

Day 2

Tsomgo Lake & local SS

Savour a hearty breakfast at the hotel and proceed for an amazing tour ahead. We drive you to Tsomgo Lake (Alt 12000ft/3600M), a high altitude alpine lake close to Indo-China Border. The 1 km long and 15m deep lake is considered sacred to the local people. The pure clear water remains frozen during winter. Enjoy playing in snow and Yak Ride. Proceed further to Legendary Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir (“Hero of Nathula” an Indian soldier who was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra medal for his bravery and known for doing his duty still after death). Later visit Banjakhri waterfalls, Government Institute of Cottage Industry, Orchid House Flower Show, Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology, Do-drul Chorten.
Optional tour to Nathula Pass (Alt 14000Ft / 4200M) on China Border can also be arranged (Except Mon, Tue) for Indian Nationals only with 30 Days Advance Request at an additional cost.
Take some rest. Or you may visit the famous M G Marg. It is now more like a long stretch of open mall or avenue square where locals and tourists take leisure stroll or just sit and relax on one of the many benches laid along the middle and both sides of the road to enjoy the ambience. The entire area is free of litter, smoke and vehicle. Overnight stay at Gangtok

Day 3

Gangtok - Darjeeling

After a warm breakfast, check out from the resort & leave for Darjeeling. Throughout your journey, you can enjoy the versatility in climate. Pleasant weather will win your heart completely. Reach Darjeeling and check into the hotel for overnight stay. In the evening you can take a stroll down to the market & you would see that by 0730-0800pm the entire city goes to sleep (Locals). Although some big restaurants & café chains will probably be up until midnight.

Day 4

Tiger Hill & Local SS

Owing to the time difference & earlier sunrise, you have to wake up quite practically in the middle of the night to make it for the Tiger Hill sight. To reach before sunrise & catch a nice spot for view & photography should be of utmost importance. Remember the drive is about 25-30mins adding to a 10-15mins walk to the spot. So time & plan accordingly the departure. Our driver will take you as early as possible to see the golden light over Mt. Kanchenjunga & Mt. Everest (A delight to watch). On your way back visit the Batasia Loop, & Ghoom Monastery. Savour a hearty breakfast at the hotel and proceed for an amazing tour ahead. Visit places in Darjeeling such as Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park which is well-known for its exotic flora and fauna. Also visit Senchal Lake, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway: a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bhutia Busty Monastery, Tenzing Rock, Darjeeling Mountaineering Institute & tea gardens. Relax and Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 5

Darjeeling – Bagdogra Drop

After breakfast today you will depart from Darjeeling with all the sweet moments spent here and drive back to Bagdogra Airport for further journey.
